Film Recommendation: Newton Newton is a devastatingly intelligent film about a not so intelligent man. A man whose calling card is his scrupulous, improbable, almost preposterous work ethic. A man who is in over his head, but decidedly, average. And a man, who - if he were a cricketer - would be the darling of his coach and commentators, because he plays shots only with a straight bat and within the ‘V’. No cross batted shots for this gent. None. It is a film that doesn’t falter - albeit the pacing can be an acquired taste - and it is rare for a movie and its protagonist to share as many traits, characteristics and occasionally, even flaws, as this one does. It is also rare for a hindi film to be so full of people telling its leading man how his views and opinions are flawed and off centre all the time.
